Pontiac Ecocentre

🕒 NEXT OPENING ON JUNE 20, 2026 🕘 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.

What is an ecocentre?

The Municipality of Pontiac ecocentre is a supervised drop-off site that allows residents and property owners to dispose of certain materials not accepted through regular curbside collection.

Unlike old dump sites, materials brought to the ecocentre are sorted to promote reuse, recycling, recovery and proper disposal through various specialized programs and partners.

The ecocentre also plays an important role in the implementation of Extended Producer Responsibility (EPR), a system in which companies that place certain products on the market are also responsible for ensuring their recovery and proper end-of-life management.

For example, certain materials are recovered through recognized programs and partners such as:

  • AgriRÉCUP (agricultural plastics)
  • ARPE-Québec (electronic products)
  • GoRecycle (refrigerant appliances)
  • Appel à recycler (batteries and rechargeable batteries)
  • Éco-Peinture (paint and aerosol products)
  • RecycFluo (mercury-containing lamps)
  • SOGHU (used oil, antifreeze and containers)
  • RECYC-QUÉBEC (scrap tire recovery program)

The goal is to reduce the amount of materials sent to landfill while encouraging more responsible and environmentally friendly practices.

By properly sorting your materials before arriving, you are directly helping improve material recovery and protect our environment.
